* ATTENTION *
Entries in the Art Department must be made on
SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
ONE DAY ONLY!
ENTRY REMOVAL Tuesday, August 28, 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Adhere to this time only.
ENTRY MUST BE
MADE by filling out entry form (in center of
catalog) and returning it to the Appalachian
Fair, P.O. Box 8218, Gray, TN 37615 by Aug. 3rd. If possible, for 20 or more items, entry
tags can be picked up in advance for your
convenience in tagging items before bringing to
the fairgrounds on entry day. Please place entry
tag in upper right hand corner of the article.
FRAMED ART WORK
1.All framed items MUST be WIRED and ready for
hanging or they will not be displayed or judged.
2. Maximum size for art work will be 48” in any
direction.
3.All framed items MUST be WIRED to the FRAME
not the Cardboard backing and Must accept the
weight of the item on a pegboard hook. (Any
picture showing signs of falling will be removed
from display and placed in safe storage.)
4.Sawtooth hangers and paper-hook stick-ons ARE
NOT acceptable for use with pegboard hooks.
MATTED ART WORK
1. Matted pieces may use EYELET stick-ons
(available in art supply stores) which will
accept the size and weight of the matted piece.
2. Use sturdy tape on backs which will withstand
heat and humidity of hot weather.
SPECIAL RULES
1. Those engaged in any line of work as a
profession or business, or as teachers of the
same, are considered professional, and are not
eligible to exhibit for competition.
2. All entries must be original and must be
entered in the name of the persons who actually
did the work. No painting by numbers.
3. Exhibitors may enter only one article in any
lot. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor
to properly select the lot for entry of any
article. Articles entered previously are not
eligible. For information call 477-3211.
4. CLASSES A-F OPEN TO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENTS THROUGH ADULT.
5. Awards will be made on quality of
workman-ship and originality of design. All
premium money will be paid from the awards as
marked by the judges and not from ribbons that
may be attached to the exhibits. Judges are
instructed not to award a premium or premiums
unless article or articles are deemed worthy of
the placing award.
6. No DECALS allowed in the Porcelain Painting
Class.
7. The Fair Association reserves the right to
disqualify ALL entries of any person interfering
with the judge, clerks, or placing of ribbons.
8. Only articles listed in the premium book will
be accepted.
9. Premium checks can be picked up or handed
out.
